Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS), is responsible for the development of Botswana Starndards and coordinating quality assurance activities in Botswana. The main purpose of SIIR is to control quality of the prescribed imports as listed in the regulations. The Regulation states that ‘no one shall import any commodity prescribed in the SIIR unless that person has applied for and has been issued with a compliance certificate in respect of that commodity’. The Regulations also states that ‘no person shall offload any substandard product into Botswana market’.
